CLOSED/DEMOLISHED

Built in the 1930s to serve the new housing development around Hamsey Green, the "Goodies" was a much altered example of Brewer's Tudor, and was reputed to be named after J B Priestley's eponymous novel. Prior to the fad for ripping out partitions, the various bars in this former Watney's house were actually named after characters from the book. The pub closed in June 2012 and is rumoured to become a Lidl supermarket.
