CLOSED/DEMOLISHED Closed Date: Apr 1993 The original Hoskins Arms was a hotel dating from 1886. It had three bars, a public, a lounge, and a cocktail bar, and was a Friary Meux pub by the 1960s. This was demolished and replaced by an unusual hexadecagonal building in 1974. This was a free house selling a number of real ales. The building was on three levels, and incorporated two bars, a coffee shop, a restaurant and twelve letting rooms. It closed in early 1993, and was later badly damaged by fire. A similarly shaped block of apartments stands on the site. This meant that until the Oxted Inn opened in 1997, the modern part of Oxted had no pub. Last Updated: 10 Jan 2018
