This former Charrington pub was host to a fantastic collection of artefacts relating to both local history and militaria which had to be seen to be believed: photos, uniforms, flags, deactivated firearms, swords, musical instruments, enamel advertisements plus much more covered almost every inch of the walls! The place rivaled Caterham's East Surrey Museum! The wooden bar-back was also most impressive and a fine example of the genre. A real cider (and occasionally, perry) was served from containers behind the bar. The back room was used on alternate Saturday evenings for a Rock & Roll band or disco. Games enthusiasts could choose between darts, pool and shove halfpenny. A good choice of real ales meant this was for years a regular in the Good Beer Guide. Plans were submitted in 2007 for demolition, but these were turned down. However in 2009 the pub closed and in 2012 was demolished.
