Converted from two cottages is 1866 and called the Dominion, it then became the Commonwealth (possibly to reflect the shift away from Empire). It was renamed the Fountain in the early 1990s and became the Valley a few years later, not to be confused with the pub of the same name which stood opposite the station. Its new name may reflect the fact that the old Valley Cinema used to be situated behind it. Originally the pub was a Nalder & Collyer (Croydon) house, latterly Ind Coope and Friary Meux. After years of changing managers and other issues the pub closed in August 2012 and shortly after demolished.
